Milk Glass Sign In Table

As any good reader of this blog knows I am absolutely obsessed with milk glass.  It is an obsession which has landed me in a bit of hot water with my usually patient husband.  Let me explain.

I collected milk glass for two years before our wedding.  I collected over 200 pieces of milk glass.  I told you.  I am obsessed.  I used the small milk glass vases I found as our place card holders and arranged them on a table with name cards and simple flowers.  I think we only paid about $50 from our florist for flowers to be placed in each vase and it turned out really pretty.

Now we are getting ready to move and our garage is still filled with wedding decor.  We're talking lanterns and candles and ribbon and milk glass.  More milk glass than I know what to do with.  It was so great to collect only now it just makes me sad to see it sitting in the garage collecting dust.  I think of all the places we scoured and all the people we met in our journey to outfit our wedding with milk glass.

Know someone who loves milk glass or needs it for an upcoming event?  I am definitely ready to sell most of my collection.  If for no other reason than to prevent my adorable husband from going completely over the edge as we get ready to move!  Comment or email if you are interested!

Even Martha Has an Off Day

We Still Sparkle

My husband and I are starting down the long and frightening road to home ownership.  We are first time home buyers so everything is new and daunting.  On Sunday we found a house we fell in love with.  I don't want to admit how much I like it because it is still so far from reality.  The most amazing part. A beach entry pool.  Oh Riviera Maya I can pretend I am sitting on your relaxing beaches every day in my own personal space where there are no gawking tourists looking at us.  Excuse that short break I am back to reality now.

We are putting in an offer tomorrow and writing up the offer today.  We are going with the FHA loan to conserve our cash and take advantage of that loan while we can since we are first time home buyers.  The house is a short sale so it is even more complicated.  We knew all this going in so we aren't too scared off.

Enter our realtor.  We told her up front what we are looking for.  How much we want to spend.  What our financial constraints are and we knew we would probably be buying a short sale.  Knowing all this after she heard our offer she proceeded to tell our lender she was frustrated by us, frustrated by our financial constraints and frustrated by our FHA loan.  Here is the real clincher.  We qualified for more.  We have money in the bank only we want to be conservative and save our cash and do things so we have a back up plan so we don't end up like the poor people who are short selling the house to begin with.  We have the money we just don't want to spend it all!  We are trying to do what we think is the right approach.

Now our realtor doesn't think we have the money and is getting worried according to our lender.

It makes me sad to think that there are still people out there who judge others based on what it looks like they have or what they think they have.  If we were spending money like water and acting like we had more than we do people would respect us more.  Why?  Didn't anyone learn their lesson from the real estate situation this country and our state has been dealing with?  Doesn't anyone respect people like our grandparents who were conservitive and made decisions based on cash and didn't think plastic was king?  I am beginning to think the financial bailout was more than a bank bailout and almost gave everyone an excuse for making bad financial decisions and now they have already forgotten what happened.

I thought I would include another picture from our October wedding.  See that beautiful bracelet?  I rented it from I'm Over It because I didn't want to spend more than I had on jewelry  I knew what I wanted only I didn't want to overspend on something I would wear once.  I don't have estate jewelry in a family safe just waiting to be plucked for such an occasion.  I wanted to sparkle on my wedding day without putting us on the path to the poor house and still look just as fabulous.  If only our realtor could see how sparkly we are and how much more fabulous a Skip Hop diaper bag is than a Fendi bag if you still have money in the bank instead of a maxed out credit card

It's Our One Week Anniversary

You never know what you are really getting into until you are in a new family...it is a scary thing to take on a new name and new relatives and new holiday traditions and a new life.

My new Mother in Law sent my new Hubby and I a sweet One Week Anniversay card tonight at almost the exact time we walked down the aisle last week. I have to say that it was pretty cute and especially since we are in post wedding letdown day...it was a cute gesture.

All I have are some blurry pictures and some I Phone pictures so here is another one...I can't wait for our pictures from our awesome photographer Phil Paik and his wife Minae. They were amazing and most of the night I didn't even realize they were there...I had to ask people if we had photographers at our wedding reception...I remember seeing them once or twice and that is it.

Now I just have to get some sleep tonight because I am back to work on Monday. If only the wedding loveliness could have lasted one more week.

More this week...also a big thank you to all those blog readers who had important parts of our wedding. This thank you especially goes out to my amazing Mother of the Bride...who did just about everything I could have asked for and more. She needs to write a book...she was amazing.

Just to give one adorable detail about this picture...my Husband is holding my handkerchief that I dropped at the altar and I am laughing at how cute he looks carrying it down the aisle after the wedding.

I am pretty much obsessed with the idea of our engagement pictures being done at a local fair...only there is no fair in San Diego when we are going to do ours.

Beautiful Bouquet

One of my favorite San Diego photographers...other than mine (Phil Paik you know you are my favorite) is Susan Yee. She does amazing things with lighting and has an artistic point of view that is so dreamy and inspiring. When I read her blog I just forget where I am and am instantly transported into a world of misty filtered sunshine and daydreaming on powdery sand.

Look at this amazing bouquet from one of her recent wedding shoots. I love the ribbon on the bouquet. Such a simple idea. It has a vintage quality that adds a unique touch. So pretty.
